Free First Saturday: Performance Play

Join us for an adventurous day inspired by the Fluxus art movement. Fluxus is a group of international artists, writers, performers, and composers whose work encouraged appreciation of creativity and the events of everyday life through performances, games, music, and more.

Wander the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and expect the unexpected as you encounter a mash-up of playful activities led by local artists. Your imagination is a key ingredient for the day’s activities, which include art-making, dueling, a workshop with the Children’s Theatre Company, and a giant game of musical chairs.

Enjoy free gallery admission and family fun for all on the first Saturday of each month. Activities designed for kids ages 6 to 12 are offered from 10 am to 3 pm.

In the event of rain, programs will move inside the Walker.

Performance: Nobody Loses and Never Ending, 11 am–2 pm

Join in a Fluxus take on musical chairs with new rules and expectations. Led by Amanda Lovelee, Jonathan Harms, and Peder Garnaas-Halvorson.

Theater Workshop: A New You, 10 am–3 pm

Using prompts to ignite your imagination, create a brand new character with the Children’s Theatre Company. Play with new voices, movements, and actions as you get together with other families for an inventive theater workshop.
