A contemporary art education program for Walker members
Ever looked at something in the galleries and wondered “Why is this here”? Or maybe you’ve never used your 20 percent discount on performing arts tickets since you weren’t even sure where to start? Perhaps when you hear “indie film,” you think “No thanks”?
Art School demystifies contemporary art by putting it into context—culturally, historically, and personally. Through short, succinct sessions, you’ll come to understand what the fuss is all about—and even feel like a connoisseur yourself.
Visual arts (photography, painting, and sculpture) sessions are followed by an optional tour of the related exhibition. After the design program, participants receive 20 percent off purchases in the Walker Shop. In addition, performing arts (dance and performance art/theater) Art School attendees are eligible for specially priced tickets to presentations of the related event.
Lectures will be miked and ASL interpretation is available upon request. Assistive-listening devices and gallery stools are available for programs offering a tour component.
Advance registration is required for Art School sessions. Tickets are $5 (free for Contributing-level members). To purchase tickets or to register, purchase tickets online or call 612.375.7655.
Buy five sessions, get one free! The $20 season pass includes one ticket to every session of the 2016–2017 Art School season.
