Walker Wide Open Party

Join us to celebrate the opening of the Walker’s campus and reconstructed Minneapolis Sculpture Garden with music, food, cocktails and local brews, giant party games, and even free tattoos! Explore our wide open campus and be serenaded by live music from Dem Atlas and Bad Bad Hats or DJ beats from Shannon Blowtorch and Su Na. Take in a performance, make art, and experience a few more surprises under the stars.

Stunning views of the newly reopened Garden from the Walker terraces combine with a night of fun to set the scene for the most happening kickoff to the summer.

Event Highlights

  • Live Music/DJs: Dem Atlas, Bad Bad Hats, Shannon Blowtorch, and Su Na

  • Tangible Interaction’s Digital Graffiti Wall
Paint on a huge digital canvas and get as close as possible to the feeling of creating real graffiti art. The system lets you pick your nozzle sizes, find the exact hues of paint, add drips and splatters, and complete your piece with stencils and stickers. It’s designed to be intuitive to use, so anyone can pick up a can and create their own mural, tag, or freestyle art.

  • Performance: HIJACK Making Dances, Part 2, 7 pm
Experience dances made in response to films from the Walker’s collection as HIJACK (Kristin Van Loon and Arwen Wilder) plays with audience expectations in the Bentson Mediatheque.
