In the history of American tap dance, names such as the Nicholas Brothers, Prince Spencer, Bunny Briggs, Buster Brown, Ernest Brown, Norma Miller, and Brenda Bufalino rank among the legendary. This extraordinary public forum explores the life and times of these tap masters through their own amazing stories—from the streets of Harlem, vaudeville, the Cotton Club, the Apollo Theater, Broadway, feature films, and television to working with musical legends such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald. These award-winning tappers are joined by Skip Cunningham and Chester Whitmore, who provide historical perspectives, lead intimate conversations with each of the artists, and present excerpts of celebrated tap performances from both film and stage.
