Join Walker Art Center director Olga Viso for an illustrated lecture on her extensive research into the little-seen work of this celebrated artist. Visos newly released book, Unseen Mendieta: The Unpublished Works of Ana Mendieta (Prestel), presents a selection of photographs and drawings from the archives of the pioneering Cuban-born American artist, many of which have never been seen before, including early studies and public art projects in development at the time of her tragic death in 1985. Viso, who served as director of Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., before coming to the Walker, is the author of several books on contemporary Latin American art.
