Free Verse: Dara Wier & James Tate

Dubbed by John Ashbery as “the poet of possibilities, of morph, of surprising consequences,” James Tate has been at the vanguard of American poetry since 1967, when his first book won the Yale Younger Poets Award. Since then, he has published numerous poems that unveil the absurdity of life in surreal and often humorous ways—garnering much acclaim, including a Pulitzer Prize and a National Book Award. Join us for fits of laughter and sighs of recognition as Tate brings his cabinet of curious poems to the Walker.
