Julian Schnabel: Artist Director Miral Post Screening Discussion

As a part of the Julian Schnabel: Artist Director Regis Dialogue and Retrospective, Schnabel attended the Walker area premiere screening of Miral and took the stage after the film to talk with Film Curator Sheryl Mousley.  We present an audio recording of the spirited discussion following the screening of Miral.

Miral is an unflinching work employing a rare perspective on postwar Middle East through the eyes of four Palestinian women. Based on journalist Rula Jebreal’s semi-autobiographical novel, the film opens in 1948 war-torn Jerusalem as Palestine is being partitioned, and where years later orphaned Miral is caught up in her turbulent surroundings. Miral screened at the United Nations General Assembly a few days before its screening at the Walker.
