Cindy Sherman, Untitled, 2002/2008, 5/10

Own this color photograph by Cindy Sherman, one of the most important and influential figures in contemporary art. She has assumed countless roles over the course of her 35-year career, which was recently highlighted in a retrospective on the artist at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. The exhibition will be on view at the Walker in November.

Julie Mehretu, Entropia (review), 2004, 15/45

Incorporating the dynamic visual vocabulary of maps, urban-planning grids, and architectural forms, the work of painter Julie Mehretu combines abstract forms with the familiar in intricately layered fictional landscapes. This special-edition print commemorates Mehretu’s yearlong residency at the Walker. Copublished with Highpoint Editions, Entropia (review) weds screenprint and lithographic techniques to faithfully translate her luminous imagery to the medium of printmaking. Also included is an artist-signed catalogue.

Louise Bourgeois, Art Is a Guarantee of Sanity, 1999, 24/25

This print comes from Louise Bourgeois’ portfolio What Is the Shape of This Problem? Louise was a French-born American artist who gained fame only late in a long career, when her psychologically charged abstract sculptures, drawings, and prints had a galvanizing effect on the work of younger artists, particularly women. The artist’s work has been featured in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

Angela Strassheim, Untitled (Breaking up), 2006

This photograph is from Angela Strassheim’s series titled Pause. In it, she is trying to capture a significant moment in time for the woman and girls featured in the photographs. Whether this is a moment of awkwardness or distress. Angela is a New York–based artist, whose work is in the collections of the Walker, the Guggenheim Museum, New York, and the Art Institute of Chicago, and among others.

Alec Soth, Enchanted Forest, 2010

One of the most compelling voices in contemporary photography, Minneapolis-based Alec Soth transforms offbeat scenes of everyday America into powerful narrative vignettes. Working in a photographic tradition of road photography, his images offer insight into broader sociologies while forming an unexpected portrait of the country. Published on the occasion of his 2010 Walker exhibition From Here To There: Alec Soth’s America, this limited-edition photogravure derives from the artist’s series, Broken Manual, which documents individuals who seek to flee civilization for a life “off the grid.”
