Claes Oldenburg: The Sixties, an exhibition of the artist’s groundbreaking and emblematic early work, has been touring in Europe since February 2012, and the Walker is one of only two venues to present it in the United States. In partnership with U.S. Bank and its divisions, The Private Client Reserve and FlexPerks Rewards, the Walker is very pleased to bring this major traveling show to Minneapolis.

U.S. Bank has a long history of providing generous grants and sponsorships for the Walker, including gifts to the Annual Fund, support for numerous capital campaigns, and funding for special exhibitions. “These contributions allow the Walker to further its mission as a catalyst for the creative expression of artists and the active engagement of audiences,” says Walker executive director Olga Viso. “Presenting an ambitious exhibition such as Claes Oldenburg: The Sixties simply would not be possible without the wonderful partnership we enjoy with U.S. Bank.”

“Strong communities are built on strong institutions,” says Dick Payne, U.S. Bank’s vice chairman of Wholesale Banking and a Walker trustee. “The Walker has been a visionary partner in bringing innovative exhibitions and programming to our great city.” U.S. Bank supports the communities it serves through financial services, economic development initiatives, grants, sponsorships, and employee volunteerism. In 2012, it provided $47.7 million in foundation and corporate contributions to strengthen communities across the country.
