“We read to know that we are not alone.” –C.S. Lewis
Does reading (a solitary act) somehow become more attractive, more meaningful when surrounded by others (a crowd) who also have taken time to intentionally read? Bring a book to the field and reimagine reading as a social activity.
Come to Open Field Saturday, July 14th for Field of Reads, the official launch of Reading Room. The day begins at 11 am with Carolyn Payne from SooVac who will introduce the Little Free Libraries that are popping up nationally and in our own backyard. Bring a book, take a book between 11 am and noon for the Beloved Book Swap. Hit the field from noon to 1pm and join the masses in a Mass Read-In! Stick around from 1-3pm for Young Literacy Story Time and more, hosted by the Hennepin County Central Library.
Free water will be provided all day long. Bring a book to read, a book to swap and something to sit on. All ages and genres welcome.
