Pesher Compline

August 3, 2014 8:30 pm
to 9:30 pm

Brian Dowdy, director, Pesher Compline
In the twilight hour of three Sundays on Open Field, James Turrell’s Sky Pesher will come alive with an other-worldly play of light and music, as a small ensemble of choral artists gather to sing compline. In monastic Christianity, monks and their guests gather for compline at the day’s end, after which the entire community observes silence until morning. On Walker’s Open Field, singers and listeners will become, for a short time, a community joined by the shared experience of sound and silence, light and darkness, music and architecture.
The program features members of Cantus: Aaron Humble, Blake Morgan, Adam Reinwald, and Paul Rudoi
