On Sunday, January 28, at 2 pm, the Walker Art Center presents a screening of John Ford’s classic adaptation of
The Grapes of Wrath
, based on the novel by John Steinbeck. The film, starring Henry Fonda, is a sympathetic look at the fate of Depression-era farmers who fled the Dust Bowl for what they hoped would be a brighter future in California. Simonson joins Walker film curator Sheryl Mousley after the film screening for a discussion about the challenges and excitement of adapting The Grapes of Wrath from book to film to opera. 1940, 35mm, 128 minutes.
Screening is in the Cinema. Tickets for The Grapes of Wrath are $8 ($6 Walker members) and can be purchased by calling the Walker box office at 612.375.7600 or online at walkerart.org/tickets.
