June Public Tours of the Walker Art Center Feature Chilren's Movement Tour of the Building Expansion, Better Looking: The Art of Curating, and Seven Collection Exhibitions
In June, visitors to the newly expanded Walker Art Center can enjoy guided and self-guided tours of the new building designed by Herzog & de Meuron, seven collection exhibitions, and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Also featured is a family tour lead by dancer Derek Phillips during the Free First Saturday event on June 4. The Better Looking series of gallery talks resumes on June 30 during Target Free Thursday Nights with The Art of Curating featuring Walker Chief Curator Richard Flood’s re-introduction to the collection.
Gallery admission is $8 adults; $6 seniors (65+), $5 student/teen (with ID), and free to Walker members and children 12 and under. Admission is free with a ticket to a same-day Walker event, $4 with a ticket stub up to six days after an event. Gallery admission is free to all every Thursday evening from 5-9 pm and on the first Saturday of each month. Target Free Thursday Nights are made possible by generous support from Target. Drop by the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden for a free guided tour. Learn more about the iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry, investigate Frank Gehry’s Standing Glass Fish, or go for a swing on Mark di Suvero’s Arikidea. Guided tours are a fun way to learn more! Meet in the outer lobby between the Walker Art Center and the Guthrie Theater.

Family Tours

Dancer Derek Phillips will move you throughout the building on an exploration of repeating designs in the Walker’s architecture and artworks. Discover how your body’s movements create a unique pattern.
2 pm
Step outside and soak up the sun on a guided tour of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Pick up a sketchpad and pencil at the Bazinet Lobby desk and make drawings of the textures and patterns you see on the sculptures.
