The Walker’s Most Popular Event Celebrates 40th Anniversary

The Walker Art Center is proud to announce the return of the annual British Arrows Awards screenings, running from November 27, 2026 through January 2, 2027. Marking four decades since the collaboration first bridged audiences of Minnesota and the UK, this highly anticipated event remains the Walker’s most popular public showcase. Since the 1986 inception of this Walker program, over 595,000 people have attended screenings.

The British Arrows Awards combines short-form filmmaking with the best of creative advertising. From fast-paced montages to atmospheric slow burns, the annual film event showcases the emotional and stylistic breadth of moving image advertising.

As a time capsule, the British Arrows reflects the cultural trends of our current moment. This year, A$AP Rocky appears in a love-story-turned-Chanel-ad directed by Michel Gondry, while Stanley Tucci stars in a mockumentary-style interview for San Pellegrino. Winning ads span surrealist comedy, quirky Claymation, poignant PSAs, and everything in between. By blurring the line between reality and fantasy, the program prompts us to consider how advertising can change the way we think, feel, and behave.

Taking place over the holiday season, the Walker’s annual moving image program provides a curated selection of short-form stories that are sure to provoke as much as they delight.

Lisa Lavender, Managing Director, British Arrows, comments, “Bringing the British Arrows to Walker Art Center is always incredibly special, but this year has particular significance as we celebrate an extraordinary 40 years of collaboration with Walker, alongside the 50th anniversary of the British Arrows. It’s a relationship we’re enormously proud of, built on a shared belief in creativity, craft and the power of brilliant moving-image storytelling. As we begin an exciting new chapter for the Arrows with our new Co-Chairs, Charlie Gatsky, President of Brands and Entertainment at Uncommon Creative Studio and Dom Thomas, Founder and Managing Partner at Object & Animal, we couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate both our history and our future than with the wonderfully enthusiastic audiences at Walker.”

About the British Arrows

The British Arrows is a nonprofit organization started by the creative industry for the creative industry, and every year it celebrates the best in moving image advertising in one of the oldest awards shows in the United Kingdom. The Walker Art Center’s involvement with the British Arrows started in 1986. After a screening of the British Arrows award-winning ad reels at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Walker’s curator at the time wanted to bring the show to Minneapolis. The involvement between the two organizations became a long-standing collaboration, which continues to run proudly today.
