Philip Glass @ 90

A man with short, curly hair sits at a piano, resting his head on one hand and holding a pair of glasses in the other. Sheet music is visible on the piano, and the background is softly out of focus.

In honor of iconic contemporary composer Philip Glass, who turns 90 in 2027, the Walker presents a two-part series celebrating his work. In Part I, the Philip Glass Ensemble performs the sprawling live score to the landmark collage film Koyaanisqatsi. In Part II, Grammy-nominated chamber group Brooklyn Rider performs all nine of Glass’s string quartets.

Philip Glass @ 90 represents the latest in the Walker’s long-standing relationship with the minimalist visionary. From Glass’s first Walker appearance in 1970 with Music in Eight Parts to his 2005 inauguration of the McGuire Theater on solo piano, the Walker’s rich history with the artist culminates in this four-day extravaganza.
