Insurgent Design: The Décimo aniversario del triunfo de la rebelión Poster Series
The 10 posters in the series Décimo aniversario del triunfo de la rebelión (1969)—now on view in the Walker's Target Project Space—represents an indulgence of the political propaganda apparatus of a revolutionary movement that had successfully overcome 10 years of tensions and challenges, writes Havana-based designer Pepe Menéndez. Depicting one key moment for each year of the Revolution's first decade, from its triunfo in 1959 to the nation's sugar cane initiative, the posters were sized too large to be used in spaces usually reserved for propaganda in Cuba.
