Become part of the art as we distribute swatches of custom-printed fabric developed by Design Triennial artists James Bridle and Navine G. Dossos for their installation Learning to Build, Building to Learn. Bring your own ideas, aesthetics, and approaches to the making process and reimagine this shared fabric as anything from simple accessories to ambitious garments.

This is the first of a series of Learning to Build, Building to Learn sewing studios. Over the course of the exhibition you can explore autonomy and agency with a shared material. Using pre selected no waste patterns or other sewing projects of your choice, be part of a group project showcasing the many directions a single textile can take in the hands of a creative community.

A selection of patterns for a range of skill levels and a limited number of sewing machines will be available as well as hand sewing supplies. Fabric supplies are limited and distribution on a first-come, first-served basis begins at 6 pm. Preregistration is required for larger projects, and sign-up will be available on-site beginning at 5 pm.

This event is part of Free Thursday Nights. Galleries are open late and free from 5 to 9 pm.
