May 12: Miya Masaoka

Witness a hypnotic performance on the laser koto, an instrument of Miya Masaoka’s own invention. This “masterful and conceptually restless” (LA Times) artist replaced the traditional Japanese koto’s strings with an array of lasers electronically connected to a laptop, which are “plucked” as she passes her fingers through their beams.
