The Vanishing Point by Bani Khoshnoudi

How do you bear witness to lives silenced and disappeared by a repressive regime? In her award-winning new film, Iranian artist Bani Khoshnoudi traces the disappearance of her cousin to the notorious Evin prison. Khoshnoudi collaborated with editor Claire Atherton to transform an extensive library of material: phone calls, home movies, family photographs, and footage of demonstrations in the streets shot by the artist and sourced online. For Khoshnoudi, who left Iran with her family during the 1979 Revolution and was permanently banned from the country following the release of her film about the 2009 Green Movement, The Vanishing Point is both deeply personal and rooted in the collective, both an urgent elegy for her lost cousin and a projection of hope for the future. 2025, Iran/US/France, DCP, in Farsi and English with English subtitles, 103 min.
