Movie: Pee Wee’s Big Adventure

Directed by Tim Burton

After his beloved new bicycle is stolen, the happy-go-lucky Pee Wee Herman goes on a wild cross-country journey—after a fortuneteller informs him that his bike is in the basement of the Alamo—and discovers an America filled with truck stops, waitresses, and runaway convicts. This comedy is Tim Burton’s first feature and a nod to Vittorio De Sica’s neorealist classic The Bicycle Thief. Written by Paul Reubens (Pee Wee) and Phil Hartman. 1985, video, 95 minutes.
