The portrait head has been a prominent form in traditional sculptural practice. From figurative representations of mythical and literary subjects to abstract and utopic interpretations, the portrait head has undergone many transformations throughout the 20th century. With the influence of Constructivism, Expressionism, and abstraction, these works reflect the evolution of the form from early modernist impulses to the contemporary aesthetics of Pop Art.
