The clock strikes fun for the entire family at the Walker Art Center’s Free First Saturday event

It’s About Time!

from 10 am–3 pm Saturday, May 3. Featured events include performances by the Kairos Dance Theatre, a 19-member company spanning four generations; screenings of animated short films in which characters try to beat the clock; art-making activities, and a story reading.

Activities are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 am–3 pm. Gallery admission is free from 10 am–5 pm on Free First Saturday.

Free First Saturdays are for Families!

Art-Making for the Entire Family: It’s Drawing Time, 10 am–3 pm

Cargill Lounge
Challenge yourself as you and a partner draw a series of images in a limited amount of time. Meaghan Tongren leads this unconventional drawing activity that turns art-making into a game.

Story Time: Traces by Paula Fox, 10:30 am and 2:30 pm

Lecture Room
This lyric poem captures those faint glimpses of a child’s day using all five senses.

Performance: Kairos Dance Theatre, 11 am and 1 pm

Share the joy of dance with Kairos Dance Theatre, a 19-member company spanning four generations. The performers, ranging in age from 4 to 91, demonstrate you’re never too young or old to express yourself through dance! With special guest and local jazz legend Irv Williams.

Film: Tick-Tock Toons, 12 noon and 2 pm

The Goat That Ate Time
