Don’t Sleep on It: 24-hour Art-making Marathon
, May 15–16, at the California Building in Northeast Minneapolis (2205 California Street NE, Minneapolis). Copresented by the Walker Art Center Teen Arts Council and mnartists.org, the free event features eight groups of artists in a 24-hour art-making marathon surrounded by Minneapolis’ Art-A-Whirl madness. Dive in and contribute to a constantly evolving space and enjoy performances by local bands (check teens.walkerart.org for a full schedule). Don’t Sleep on It kicks off with a party on Friday night at 6 pm; the closing party on Saturday night at 8 pm features a time-lapse video of the preceding 24 hours. Participating artists include Burlesque Design, Erik Burke, Mike Fitzsimmons, Andy Ducett, John Grider, Hardland/Heartland, Andy McInnis, Liz Miller, Kristina Mooney, Chris Pennington, Carissa Samaniego, Brett Smith, Erin Smith, and Scott Stulen.

Young artists (ages 15–19) are invited to participate in this free event and transform the gallery through painting, sculpture, sound/music, drawing, collage, assemblage, video, and more. 9 am–12 noon: Liz Miller (fields of felt and fabric)
12 noon–3 pm: Scott Stulen & Andy Ducett (participatory painting)
