Students, professors, and curious minds and lifelong learners alike are invited to Scholar’s Night. This year’s campus-wide evening of activities takes you behind the scenes at the Walker.

In the Main Lobby, start by perusing information tables and enjoying a drink. A tour of Olalekan Jeyifous: Hydricosmic Litanies begins at 6 pm.

At 6 pm, enjoy a rare look into the Walker’s recent acquisitions with the debut of WAC-101. This new program, led by Walker curators, offers insights into the many roles, projects, and efforts that shape a museum collection.

At 7 pm, D’est (From the East) by Chantal Akerman screens in the Walker Cinema followed by a conversation with Claire Atherton, the editor of the film. Educators and students can receive a free ticket at the desk with school ID. D’est, a work in Walker collection, was presented as a multi-channel installation as part of the 1995 Walker exhibition Bordering on Fiction: Chantal Akerman’s D’est.

Visit the Print Study Room for a special look at a curated selection of Walker archive materials highlighting the intersections of water and art. On your way to or from the Print Study Room, be sure to stop by the Art Lab for hands-on art-making designed by a local guest artist.

University professors and faculty who attend Scholars’ Night will receive gallery passes to bring their students back to the Walker to see Olalekan Jeyifous: Hydricosmic Litanies and other exhibitions on view for free.

This event is part of Free Thursday Nights. Galleries are open late and free from 5 to 9 pm.
