Since 1996, the Walker Art Center Teen Arts Council (WACTAC) has explored radical ways to create space for teens and teen voices in a museum context.
This summer, WACTAC celebrates its 30th anniversary with a day of art-making, reflection, and community dialogue highlighting the impact of youth programming and the importance of teen perspectives in civic life.

Teen Redux Collage, 12 noon–5 pm
Visitors of any age are invited to channel the wisdom of their inner teen—whether past, present, or future—to create a collage using photocopied ephemera from WACTAC’s material archive.
Art Works: Youth Arts Programming Panel Discussion, 1–2 pm
Leaders from across the Twin Cities meet for a conversation exploring the role of art and creative expression in support of youth development, moderated by artist, educator, and community leader Adriana Rimpel.
Community Networking Sesson, 2:15–3:15 pm
WACTAC alumni, young professionals, and Twin Cities creatives at any career stage are invited to meet, catch up, and uncover new connections at a networking session hosted by musician, visual artist, and youth worker Mischa Kegan.
WACTAC 4EVER: Intergenerational Alumni Panel Discussion, 3:30–4:30 pm
Alumni from throughout WACTAC’s 30-year history meet to share stories, compare notes, and collaboratively imagine WACTAC into the future in a conversation moderated by Calder Zwicky, executive director of New York–based Artistic Noise.
Directly following the public event, WACTAC alumni and their families are invited to a private celebration from 5 to 9 pm at the Walker. Alumni RSVPs requested. We hope to see you there!
